The smaller flange set work great for small ears and skinny ear canals. They are comfortable under muffs, and work well, blocking loud noise but you can still hear people talk. I keep a set in my pocket or edc bag all the time. Never know when things are going to get loud.

Yes, I know the correct definition of "literally." I bought these a while back and tossed them in my shooting box. Yesterday I went shooting, and put the case for these on my key ring. Today, I decided to try wearing them while driving with the windows open, and I will not leave the house without them anymore. For shooting, they're okay, as good as any earplugs I've tried. They weren't as good as I'd have liked when I was next to a guy with short-barreled AR with an A2 flash hider/compensator, but they worked fine for firing my own guns without muzzle brakes, and when the AR guy was replaced by a guy shooting an unbraked .30-06. I don't know of anything other than over-ear muffs that will sufficiently dull high-powered rifles with muzzle brakes, and .223 from a short barrel is never pleasant to be near, so that's par for the course. But oh, man, off-range! Today, the plugs were still in my pocket when I needed to drive across town. The car was hot from being in the sun, and the weather was nice, so I opened my windows. Normally, I have to close the windows once I get off residential roads because the sounds of traffic hurt my ears, and at high speeds, the car creates a series of pressure waves that pulse painfully. I remembered these and put them in. For a semi-quantitative measure, I normally drive with the stereo at 14 with the windows closed. On the rare occasions I drive main roads with the windows open, or driving on the highway with the windows closed, I have to increase it to 18. After putting these in, I had to increase it to 16, but here's the amazing thing: I didn't have to change it again. I drove with the windows open, still at 16. I got on the freeway *with the windows still open* and it stayed at 16, and I could still hear my music! These blocked the high-frequency sounds of wheels on road, dulled the sound of my own engine and those around me, and only slightly decreased my ability to listen to the stereo. They also completely blocked the pressure waves caused by driving with my windows open. I'm buying 3 more pairs of these--one for my shooting box, one for each car, and I'll be carrying the first pair in my pocket at all times. I get sound-induced migraines pretty often. I'll be using these anywhere there's a lot of noise, and I expect to get far fewer migraines. These literally changed my life for under $15!

I've used this with a micro 9mm and an AR15 (16in barrel in 556) as well as 20 in 12 guage. My ears did not ring or feel pain. I used the them once indoor shooting outdoors in practice. Still worked. I would double up for compensated guns and completely indoor shooting. They do work their way out with time if you are talking or chewing, since jaw movement pushes things out of the ear. So they will be best suited for hunting with non compensated guns, short shooting sets outside, and everyday carry. I've used them when friends blast car music with shake the car volume. Overall electronic buds are better but these are great and just as good in most situations. Convince to carry is 5 out of 5

These are my go to for hunting season! They fit amazing, I can use them and still talk and hear and then have no issues with the bang! Also if you get migraines and need something to filter out noise, these have a little red “dampeners” that you can take out to allow more noise in for better conversation or to make them safe for the workplace while still filtering out the louder noises!

These are comfortable little ear plugs. I work as an RSO at an indoor range and these are by no means sufficient on their own as ear protection indoors. I put these in and a pair of ear muffs overtop. I have shot hand guns and 22 rifles with these outdoors and felt fine as well as sufficiently protected. The pros - they are comfortable, retain their shape and are reusable unlike foam one time use plugs and work well outdoors as main ear pro. Cons - they are not protective enough as an indoor range main ear pro. I would absolutely recommend.

I wanted a pair of soft ear plugs when shooting my .22 rifle. I found these on Amazon and read each of the reviews. Some made no sense, as they seemed to expect an $18 pair of plugs to perform like a $300+ electronic headset. One reviewer did suggest that these are best used with a headset as double protection, and in the description Amazon mentioned a Safariland Range Kit. I ordered both. When both arrived I tried the ear plugs on, they come with 2 sizes of plugs and both seemed to fit my ears just fine. They were easy to put in and take out and the carry case was really handy to keep on my range bag. I took them to the desert to shoot my .22 rifle and 1911, they worked great and were very comfortable. I have to confess that after wearing them for nearly 2 hours, I did forget they were in and started driving home and realized I forgot to take them out. They are just that comfortable. My next outing I used them with my headset from the range kit and worked out my Barrett 92B. When used with the range kit headset the combination provided plenty of protection. I can only say good things about these $18 ear plugs as they work for what they are apparently intended to do. I think most shooters would understand that the $18 ear plugs alone would not be adequate in an indoor range. My advice: buy the range kit for the added protection when needed. I took a gamble but knew that the Safariland gear I used on the job was top notch; these did not disappoint. My wife says they do not stop the noise from my snoring, but you know?????
