Great accessory for those laptops that only have WIFI when you need Ethernet!
My greatest nightmare is having to get on the internet some place that only has "old fashioned" RJ-45 Ethernet connectors available and no WIFI! This nifty accessory solves that problem AND provides 3 USB-3 ports in addition to offering a 10/100/1000 Ethernet connection, all through a regular USB-A style USB3 connection. Does the job it was designed to do!I've seen some other reviewers mention speed issues. I always wonder if they actually know what speed network they are plugging into? Complaining about what appears to be a speed limit when they aren't really attached to a 1000Meg network like they think they are doesn't make much sense. IF you're having speed issues, check to see what speed the source is that you're plugging into and if it is throttled by your ISP when accessing the internet too.

Loving the Top-Sockets
I received the USB Hub as expected. I arrive in a little cardboard box that was padded. The box would be nice to keep it from being tossed about when traveling or the unit is small enough to fit in my laptop bag. It has a 4 inch cord that plugs into a USB-C on the laptop or phone. While it doesn't have power feedthru, it is perfect for my laptop. And the top-plugs keep my system footprint small when I plug in thumbdrives and other USB-A devices. I compared it to a friend's hub and it's about half the width and twice as tall since the USB plugs are on top versus his with plugs along the side. I found no issues with any of the USB-A sockets and it was all just plug-n-play. The ethernet connector was also plug-n-play and seemed to work just as well. It gave me my ideal speedtest for the internet service and router that I have. If you are looking for an efficient, portable USB-A hub that attaches via USB-C then this is perfect. While my usage wasn't for my phone, it was recognized by my Android Pixel and did allow me to access my USB-A thumbdrives. It also connected to the ethernet, which is convenient when at the few remaining offices or hotels that don't have WiFi. In those cases it's a lifesaver. I had no issues with my phone case, but it is a normal rubber skin-type. Please note that power for the hub comes from the USB-C plug and some phones and laptops will keep that flowing even when they are "off". The case stayed cool due to the tough metal case, but the USB-A plugs did get warm. I will try to update this if I run into any issues later.

Connector Difference
Instructions indicate a Type C and Type A connector to computer. The one I received only has a type C - not a problem for me but may cause a problem for others. Also cable is only 5.5 inches long - a little short.

works as advertised
Like most newer laptops my Dell Inspiron has a USB 3 port, but no RJ-45 network port. I have a docking station where I connect all my peripherals and connection with only one connection to the laptop via the USB3 port; it is a fair-sized, heavy box that requires external power.I have been having issues with my Internet connection and my ISP provider wants me to connect to the RJ-45 line coming to the house directly and this adapter allows me to do just that. I was able to demonstrate that the speed coming to the house is half of the speed I am paying for. Also, the small size of this unit, allows me to take it with me when I am on the road an connect various peripherals including external mouse, and various external drives via the 3 USB ports, and they work fine with the power coming from the laptop. TH picture gives you an idea of the size in relation to the pen next to it.My impression is positive so far, but I will have to use it some more to see if I have any issues.
