Ford Racing M4700C 8.8" Rebuild Kit with Carbon Discs

Installed in my 31 spline 8.8" Ford Bonco. Also installed new Standard gear spiders. Be aware that you will use only three shims per side and 3 clutches per side with this setup.With the carrier shim.You can see what I mean in the photo. I soaked the clutch plates in Fords friction additive for 2 days. Runs great no binding or shudder. Spins both tires nicely.

I put these in a 1998 Ford Explorer rear that went into a Jeep XJ. It’s not a race vehicle but will spin both back tires evenly in the grass. So I guess the kit works. I used YouTube videos for installation instructions and it was pretty straight forward.

This has been a very good replacement for my stock GT. Watch videos before replacing them yourself, it's not easy.

The LSD went out in my mustang with lots of lateral axle play. I looked at various options such as a Lock Right, Detroit Locker or a True-track. Cost being a factor I decided to replace the clutch packs in my differential. For one, the aforementioned options range in cost between $300 to over $600 and two of the three require carrier removal and subsequent pinion setup, which I'm not capable of doing. The factory clutches survived 120,000 miles of spirited street driving so why not replace them on a Saturday afternoon myself? The install went well, check Youtube for instructions, and I am back on the street in less than a day.

FORD RACING....the name means quality. worked great in my 1992 Mustang GT rebuild. be sure to pretreat/soak them in Motorcraft XL13 gear lube modifier prior to use/installation

Would give 5 stars but they use fedex smart ship which sucks I did get them early by 1day but I also had ordered spring perches from Cali and they got here the 2nd day using U.S priority these come from Texas and took 6 days but the product itself is def good ain't tested them yet but they def don't break loose for nothing and can make the spider gears a pita to install but they def will be worth it I can tell

Works perfect.l! Unless you have a 31 spline posi,You will be reusing the s spring if your still 28 spline. If your new at rearend work please do not try forcing the new spring in! Other than that np.

S spring was too big, but works fine. Grabs like a mofo, and spins both tires easily
