Bring the solution to a boil. [No stirring is required] Continue cooking with medium heat. Step 2 – Cook the candy to hard crack stage (302-310 degrees Fahrenheit on candy thermometer). Cook time is approximately 20-25 minutes from boil. Step 3 – Put provided wooden sticks in the apples while solution is heating up. Lightly grease cookie sheet. When the has reached the hard crack stage, remove from heat and dip the apples. Store apples in a cool dry place. Do not refrigerate. CAUTION: Candy apple making should be done by adults only, as the heating temperature is very high. When is above 200 degrees Fahrenheit, do not add water. Do not pour into a drain, as the could spatter and cause severe burns to the skin. HELPFUL TIPS: To reduce bubbling of the candy coating, stir in 1/8 teaspoon of solid shortening just before you dip the apples. For easy clean up, soak utensils in hot soapy water or fill candy coated pan with water and boil until candy coating is dissolved.
