Modena is the first shoe ever produced by Grisport back in 1977 and is still popular throughout Europe. Extremely lightweight and flexible it is suitable for hot weather use as has no waterproof membrane. The speed lacing system makes it easy to take on and off with the lace simply running through the 'D-rings'

Great looking shoe
First impressions: smart, comfortable, easy to walk in. Delighted with the look of them, after having waded through so many clumpy-looking walking shoes.Wore them on a 4-5 mile town hike yesterday and performed well on tarmac. Have no reason to suppose they’d be any different in open country. No excessive padding internally, so one doesn’t feel as if one is “walking on air” and cannot tell how warm they’d be in cold weather but perfectly acceptable level of comfort. I bought them because they are light, breathable and ideal for hikes in the summer. A few layers of anti-rain spray should render them waterproof (they appear to have leather uppers) and that is fine for my purposes. Not planning to hike in snow, heavy mud etc. although they do have a decent thick sole, with easily accessible / cleanable grooves unlike so many of their competitors. If you want Italian style and comfort, this may be the shoe for you - good for hiking and smart enough to pass as a very decent town shoe.

An excellent shoe - well worth considering.
This is the 2nd pair that I have had, the first ones lasting from 2010 and having walked many miles in them. Good construction on the previous pair with the soles only going now.The shoes are wide fitting, which they need to be to accommodate walking socks and to be comfortable if walking fair distances, and with me having narrow ankles and a low ankle bone, I find that I need to fit heel grips and leather insoles. (This I have to do often anyway.) The grip is good. They are, however walking shoes for general walking and hiking without ankle support given by boots. To preserve their life I waterproof them before first wearing and then from time to time.I am pleased to see that, over five years since I bought my first pair, which I got because I was looking for shoes that would double as being smart enough for general wear and toughish walking (and to save having to take a further pair of shoes due to airline weight restrictions) and they are good enough for both. I am pleased also that they come in size 6 (UK) which for men I have found difficult to get for walking shoes. If my new pair, which I have worn only once at the time of writing, are as robust and comfortable as the first pair that I bought - and I have no reason to suppose that they are not - then I shall be more than pleased.I was pleased ágain that I was able to buy them through Amazon at a very reasonable price - I noticed that they are more expensive on other sites - so it's worth looking around before buying.A note to the manufacturers: Keep on making them please! You are on to a winner! Grisport Unisex Modena Hiking Shoe Brown CMG036 6 UK

Look nice, but sloppy fit.
These shoes are a sloppy fit, They don't grip my heels, unlike most other shoes (like Lomer Ramblers, unfortunately unavailable). They slop about, making them uncomfortable and not good for walking. My Grisport Kielders are not like these, they are a very good fit. Otherwise, they look good and seem to be well made, but hey, what are shoes for?

Very good pair of shoes
Comfortable, very lightweight but appear to be sturdy. I bought these shoes as I badly needed a pair of good comfortable shoes for everyday use, I have had for about a week now and I am very impressed with them and have actually been walking more than usual, they have made walking so much more enjoyable. I usually wear Clarks or Hush Puppies, but now Grisport has been added to my favourite shoe list. I have not had them very long, so I ccant say how durable they are, but they seem to be very well made with attention to detail and I expect to get many miles out of them.

GOOD SHOES
First impressions were disappointing as these look cheap made, I even wondered if they were made with real leather and thought about returning them without wearing them. However after wearing them for almost 2 years I'm going to order another pair to replace them as they are now wearing out.I wear them most days (birding or dog walking) as they are very comfortable and lightweight. They don't have any padded lining so my feet don't overheat even in summer, unlike other more expensive trekking shoes I've had in the past and could only wear in cooler months.

Giro sport have declined in Quality big time if genuine
l have bought this brand for years as good quality shoes as previous pair had Vibram soles but this pair , these had some tacky plastic quality sole. Italian manufactured foot ware was superb but sadly the pair sent to me were not manufactured in the same factory where my last pair was. Quality very poor and size now to small typical of outsources to the far East. Either Girosport has packed up production in Italy or they are cheap copies . be on your guard. I will return them straight away.

tried them on and they fitted fine. I did not wear them out walking until ...
I received these shoes on the 25 January, tried them on and they fitted fine.I did not wear them out walking until the 25 March At first they felt o.k but after about an hours walking they started to rub the back of my left heel.By the time I got home I had a large blister on my heel, upon inspecting the shoe I found that the stitching of the left hand shoe at the heel was raised and that it was this causing the problem.I am not impressed. I contacted Amazon about my problem and they arranged for me to sent the faulty shoes back, they also sent me a new pair that are perfect in every way.I am now very pleased with the shoes.Well done Amazon. .
