Perfect for what I needed
Please note this SIM is for IoT (Internet of Things), not for personal cell phone use. Seems like some of the negative reviews are from people who didn't understand this. But if you are connecting sensors and can't or don't want to use wifi, this is a great solution. And even better, their Management Platform is super clean with a lot of features to get your data to AWS (or any other cloud). And super quick delivery. I got mine the next day!

BUYER BEWARE
I bought this for my daughter's QQ smart watch and went through he** with it. First, I had to put it in my phone to register it however that could not be completed because it required a credit card. I contacted the company about not being able to register the SIM and was told debit cards are not accepted. I was so livid I started a return claim with Amazon after telling the company that was not specified prior to the purchase. Who does that? After stating my dissatisfaction, the company decided to begin accepting debit cards and allotted me a $10 credit towards my purchase. That seemed a little suspicious to me. But the biggest problem I had was after taking the SIM card out of my phone and replacing it with my own, I couldn't use the internet away from WIFI. I contacted my provider about and they determined it was something wrong with my phone so I did some investigating and found that inserting the SIM card had changed the profile on my phone. So I deleted it and was able to use the net again. I'm so returning this product.

Connectivity for IoT use cases
I am a cloud engineer and was looking for a product to works with AWS IoT use cases. This product fits in that case very well.I purchased 1 SIM card (1-pack). It is actually better to buy 5 SIM cards [5 pack] for the better discounts if you have more than few devices to connects. This SIM works pretty much everywhere, where I live, it picks up both AT&T and T-Mobile and signal was strong. The set up was easy. It required credit card to complete the activation. SORACOM have very good documentations for the developers. As for the 3G modem (Cradlepoint IBR600B) that I was testing, all I had to do was to set "APN" then the router connected. Easy.It also works on my unlocked iPhone 6 plus, I believe this is not intended use for this product as the pricing structured to be turned for Internet of Things (IoT) use cases. However, I can keep the SIM as my emergency travel SIM since this SIM works pretty much anywhere in the world and doesn't cost me much to keep it.I think this product is not for everyone, but recommended for IoT developers like me. I plan to play around with this with new Amazon IoT GreenGrass.

Enabled a wifi-to-cellular gateway in rural outdoor use with sensors
This service is great for testing how to get data from my crop field sensors to the internet. No nearby wired or wifi internet connections, so I needed a cellular data connection. This SIM is in a Huawei USB cellular modem attached to a Raspberry Pi. The Pi forwards data received from sensors over wifi, over around a 300 meter radius, to the cellular modem, enabled by Soracom cell data service through AT&T. My data can go to anywhere on internet.Soracom's service connects to AT&T LTE in my area. Soracom's low-data-rate pricing by the byte lets me have a cheap entry level while I am learning and testing. While it took some fumbling to get this working (installed the SIM upside down initially), I found enough info on Soracom's website and chose a cellular modem they recommend. After a couple of hours of trial and error I had the Raspberry Pi being a wifi-to-cellular gateway and my experimental fields began to transmit real-time water status data.Just bought a second one and a second Huawei USB modem. This combination also enables my Linux or Windows laptops to connect to internet while outdoors away from wifi.

Easy setup
Made for IoT devices and allows a billing cap via support. Excellent service.

Like this service. Wish I could use it.
Wish I could use this. It's 3G only, and I need the lower latency of LTE.It's expensive compared to other options, but that seamless rollover from one carrier to the next is highly desireable.

This is how cellular connectivity should work
I'm building a Raspberry Pi based IoT product and Soracom has been a godsend. You'd think this basic use case would be covered by the big 4 carriers -- connecting a pi to the internet -- but the industry is riddled with bait-and-switches, false promises, and general bureaucracy. After multiple months of zero progress, I was able to ship internet connectivity with Soracom's help super quickly. If you've got a project that needs cellular connectivity and you want to pay-per-mb, Soracom is 100% the way to go.
