The answer to my USB3 prayers!
Finally a card that works! This is my 4th (!) USB-3 card, and the first one to work AS IT SHOULD. I installed it into a 9-year-old Dell Precision T5400 desktop. It works like a dream - very stable, doesn't cut off in mid-transmission nor throws any other surprises. It is all to do with the fact that this card (Model PEXUSB3S44V) is a 'quad bus' card - it has 4 separate chips (4x Renesas [NEC] uDP720201) and 4 separate large capacitors - one for each USB port. The cheaper cards have only one chip shared between 4 USB ports, and this causes trouble. In case of my Dell I had power issues all the time with other cards - disconnecting drives, cutting in mid transfer etc. This one just works fine and in spite of the limitations of my old motherboard I get speeds up to 320 MB/s through this card (between SSDs inside the desktop and fast external RAIDs via this USB3 card). Optional (but absolutely recommended!) power connection to the card can be done by either a SATA-style power connector or older type MOLEX-type. The card then delivers up to 900mA of 5V current per port - sufficient even for my power hungry 2TB WD Passport (USB3). Be warned though about USB2 devices - the card only gives them 500mA per port, and my old disks require more power (via a splitter cable) from another port (can be USB2). It is an expensive card, but for me worth every penny. [One more comment: if you have a Dell like mine, avoid USB3 cards based on VIA 800 (or VLI) chip - this machine is 'allergic' to them, but Renesas 720201 works fine.]

Won’t fit Fractal meshify 2 case if in the bottom PCIe slot.
Great product, installed flawlessly but unfortunately I couldn’t access the usb ports in my Fractal meshify 2 case - it would be fine in any PCIe slot except the lowest one, but that was the only free slot I had available.I have returned it and ordered the 3+1 usb port from StarTech instead as the ports are arranged vertically.

Good quality USB hub but requires a modification to fit
I'm very pleased that I now have 4 independent USB inputs working with 4 hosts but goodness, who designed this thing? Once installed in the PCI express slot in an ATX tower you will feel that your job is done .. that is until you actually try to plug a USB in to one of the sockets!! The sockets are horizontally aligned which means the width of the socket is wider than the width of an average cutout on an ATX case. You will have to get your cutters out and cut one section out of the back of the case in order to fit the USB plugs into the board. Not the end of the world but not highlighted in the instructions either. The irony is that consideration has been made for those with a low profile case for which an additional low-profile bracket has been included in the box!

4 Elgato Facecams plugged into this card, worked perfectly!
Found out about this card and grabbed it for an event that required four camera feeds. This worked perfectly - I had four Elgato Facecams plugged in, one per port and each using a 5m long USB A->C Cable. No issues at all over the 12+ hours it was all set up for.Important to note, you will have to make sure that you've got a PCIe x4 slot (and that it's actually running at x4 speeds, check your motherboard manual!) and power it with the SATA (or if you've got no other choice, Molex) power cable. If your PC supports it then this will most likely solve any USB power/bandwidth related issues you're running into!

Problem with horizontal mounting of sockets
Have tried to mount this into 2 pc boxes, problem is that as the sockets are horizontally mounted instead of vertically you cannot plug them up satisfactorily as the socket widths extent into the slot supports.Replaced with a 4 up vertically mounted unit which plugs up perfectly.

Solved Oculus Rift issues
Bought this as I was having connection issues with my rift and it solved it. I had worked out my USB keyboard and mouse along with the rift was drawing too much power from my USB. This draws its own power from your PSU. It's pricey but it was going into an expensive pc and was advised by tecky friends to use this manufacturer. Only issue was the ports are vertical so when in the case I couldn't push the USB into the card fully. I had to cut out part of the case.

ok card but required grinding
Card works ok. Haven't tested the speed but devices work normally in it in all OSes Win10, Mac, Linux with exception of USB mouse and keyboard on mac that are troublesome and best avoided. Main issues with the unit is the quality of the bracket. However the bracket where the screw goes in to fix it to the case required some grinding to get it to fit properly. The card drops down and you can't get the usb plugs in. The hole where the screw goes in does no go low enough in the bracket so I had to grind it with a Proxxon. I also had to bend the right angle of the bracket that presses against the case with pliers as it wasn't totally vertical and tended to let the unsecured end of the card droop down meaning half the ports were not usable. Now you can push the card as high up as it will go, have it sit horizontally, and screw it in tightly and the usb plugs just about go in. Rather poor given the price. If you are going to have vertical ports then the bracket needs to be bang on or it won't work. My case is a Fractal Design R6. I contacted Startech US support via live chat and they were totally useless asking me lots of obvious questions and not listening to what I was saying. I contacted the seller StarTech and they were very helpful and agreed to a discount on the item price paid which was very fair. I figured it wasn't worth returning as they'd all be like that. Hopefully they will improve the unit which is otherwise ok.

This is a serious USB card
SATA power is the best way to get full power to the USB outlets. This is a no nonsense USB card that is priced right for its quality.Used here to get a single USB 3 connection with full power on the front panel. Solid transfer numbers and no problems powering up a finicky NVME chassis.(I am going to buy a used spinning laptop drive in an enclosure as a test for power. If a USB outlet can power that up, it is all we can expect)

Easy Install operating perfectly ..
I have a 13 year old Gateway computer with USB 2.0 ports, and I wanted to upgrade to the USB 3.0 service. I read enough info to make an attempt at installing this Star Tech unit, and I was thrilled that it worked immediately after the install. My Internet download speed increased from +/- '260 Mbps' up to +/- '460 Mbps' .. (with upload speed '12 Mbps' .. no change). I have checked my speed frequently, and it is consistently above at least '440 Mbps'. This is a great product at a great buy !

StarTech Always Makes Great Products
Works fine as expected. I opted for the model with the SATA power, just in case someone plugs in a high power device. This was the most ports I could find on any USB expansion card. StarTech makes great products. I've been in IT for 20+ years, and I think they make the best niche tech parts out there. They are so much better than the cheaper no name random alternatives on Amazon. StarTech is worth paying a little more. The best part is their support! The chat is great, and you can find downloads and manuals as you need them. That is really important when dealing with technology. I always default StarTech for hard to find and specialty adapters.

Fantastic build quality, drivers that work and speed that is well worth the extra over others!
I tried 3 other less expensive PCIE to USB cards and they all had issues with drivers, throughput, or both! This card just works and really does deliver bandwidth! It also handles multiple hubs and high power devices perfectly!0 drop outs, 0 latency issues, instantly recognizes anything plugged in!It also has better build quality with the vertical ports - they aren't obstructed by different cases like some other cards I tried!I don't know why I bother with other brands - I always end up back with StarTech. It also has 2 standards for providing power instead of just 1 odd one (floppy power on one that I tried).I highly recommend this card!

Works great
In the Windows 10 computer, ready to go. With 2 Elgato and 1 Logitech streamcams no problem. Worked without extra voltage input, I did put an extra voltage in to give the motherboard less stress.Works well with OBS etc. No drivers needed. No problem with the ports, more then enough space to put in the USB cables. So I don’t know why some have a problem with that.Gets a little hot, don’t know how long it will last. If it breaks, I update here.
