It can be built
Everyone is correct this is very complicated to build with basic instructions. However for the price ($30) this is great. It took us about 3 hours to do but yes you can build it. I would suggest buying another Power City set first so you can have some practice using these pieces I had purchase and built the Skyscraper and with the practice from that set it really help in building this set.

EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING TO ASSEMBLE!
My son had found one of the trains at the park and it slowly has grown to an entire set. So for Christmas we bought him this drawbridge. He isn't 8 so I am not upset that he couldn't assemble it by himself. I am upset that 1.) It took 2 adults almost 3 hours to put together. 2.) the directions are TERRIBLE. They have conflicting explanations on where parts go. The pieces that hold the track in place gave us trouble. Told us to put one part in one area then two lines down said the same piece was suppose to be in a different place. Also their pictures are impossible to understand and there is a lack of pictures when they would be extremely helpful. 3.) After spending hours assembling the bridge, not even attaching the track we already owned, the bridge for the cars kept coming apart! It would come apart when you didn't want it to, and not separate when you did want it to! We had to pull out the KRAGLE to ensure future happiness for our entertainment needs. The pictures on the box don't match the parts it came with. I would try to use the picture on the box to try to figure out how parts were suppose to look. For a train set that is relatively inexpensive comparatively, it is ok, but more times then not we find ourselves extremely frustrated with the set.

It is tedious to put together
This bridge is magnificent. It is tedious to put together, but worth it. Great toy. It is huge.

Cool set, great time with my kids
After seeing all of the 1-star reviews, I was leaning towards not buying this set. However, after reading the 5-star reviews, I saw the 1-star reviews as more of a challenge. I helped my 6 year old and my 5 year old build the bridge this past weekend, and it took around 3-4 hours total. The directions were decent, and there were no major hiccups. To address the warning of the pieces not staying together from other reviews, I used a hot glue gun if it appeared that key pieces weren't going to stay together. Also, if you plan on using hot glue, a hairdryer is sufficient to reheat/release the glue (HT to my wife). I needed to do this twice when I glued connections that I shouldn't have. I don't intend on disassembling the bridge, and it will probably live on a shelf when not in use. Most importantly, my kids thought it was awesome. It was great time with them building it, and it worked together well with the Power City trains that we already had.

Three Stars
It doesn't go with any other system, so my son lost interest in it very quickly.
