It's a Mikrotik

Does the job and easy to integrate

Great little power house!!

Great little power house if you need a router and an 8 port POE switch. It's not for a none Mikrotik users. It is not a plug and play unit. You must know about Mikrotiks and how to configure them.

Great as most Mikrotik devices are

Does it's job and does it well. It didn't care what kind of SPF modules i plugged in, they just worked.

Switch is solid, but really should come with 48V adapter

If you like Mikrotik, you'll like this switch. However it has one glaring issue: it's advertised as a PoE switch, but you have to purchase a separate $60 48V power supply (if you get the OEM one) in order for it to properly provide PoE! The included power supply wont be enough to power a wireless AP, for example. So if you're buying it specifically because it has PoE, the price point is effectively $250 USD or so, not $190-200. It starts to look less compelling vs the competition at that price. Just be aware before you buy this!

Garbage

Does not even come close to the speeds they advertise. I had to pull it out due to poor performance.

Solid Switch, steep learning curve

Mikrotik gear features awesome value for the quality of the hardware, though the software is not nearly as easy to set up as competing options (at much higher price points). The switch / router is very powerful though and what’s extra cool about this fanless little box is that it can power POE devices both at 24VDC as well as 48VDC (though you will have to buy a separate 48VDC PSU for that). One annoying pitfall re the SFP ports is that you should turn off auto-negotiation and instead fix them at 1GbE, as they are otherwise quirky.MikroTik gear is a network engineers dream as they can be programmed to do most anything RouterOS can handle. With RouterOs 7 that includes built in wireguard, opnvpn, etc.

Good switch, but not really POE unless you buy the high power PSU

We have been using some Mikrotik switches in places where we normally would have used something from Ubiquiti lately after having some issues with Unifi gear in our last few deployments. These take some getting used to, but they seem to be reliable enough and they have lots of non-blocking throughput.Only issue with this unit is that it is marketed as a POE switch, but won't really run any modern POE devices unless you buy the 48VDC PSU, which is like $80 or something. So you can add another hundred bucks to the price of these small Mikrotik switches if you actually need them to work. Can't go wrong with Cisco, but for like, 1/10 the price, Mikrotik gear can usually be made to work.
