Chalkboard for Adult Use? Yes, Lets!
What would a grown woman want with a chalkboard? This is the question I received when my friend walked into my home office and saw it hanging up. I need this for a couple of reasons. The main reason is the fact that I forget things at an alarming rate. If someone tells me to do something by the time it's time to execute what I was asked to do I have either forgotten a portion or all of what was said. Writing things down on a piece of paper, or recording it into my phone doesn't work for me. What does actually work for me is writing things in large letters on a blackboard that I can't hit snooze on or intentionally ignore. It's very useful. The blackboard can take normal chalk but I use chalk markers on the surface. If you are going to use normal chalk on it make sure you prime the board by running the side of the chalk all over the board and then erasing really well. The chalk will show up very bold after that. I have to say that this is not the type of blackboard that you would find at school but it's a nice, home-use board. It is able to hold my markers and chalk as well which is a large plus. I found that I was able to hold three markers on the board before running out of space which is amazing. You could almost fit four but you run out of space right at the edge of the cap. This chalkboard comes with the nails to hang it up and assembly was extremely easy. Cleanup is easy as well with the liquid chalk markers. Now, I did struggle originally with wiping the liquid chalk off the blackboard. Me being very new to the whole liquid chalk thing and forgetting to purchase an eraser I used a piece of wet paper towel. Wrong move. It smudged and just would not come off without elbow grease. I researched how to remove liquid chalk from boards and I saw advice of using a magic eraser and Windex, none of which I had on hand. I then took a simple sponge with water and it came off. If you are going to use that method with the liquid chalk make sure you have a dry rag handy to dry the board. It will look good as new with no trace of there having been something written there. This chalkboard is excellent for use in your home office, kitchen to write menu's on or even to hang in a playroom for kids to draw on. This was worth the price! On the pics I actually erased part of it with a paper towel and water on the right side of the board. If you notice it's still a little white. On the left side of the board I used the sponge and water. Amazingly clean and clear.

The Board Dudes-chaklboard- blackboard
Great board for the price! I bought 3- comes with mounting hardware too-one for kitchen, basement and a gift-Good for those daily reminders. 17"x23" is a pretty good size-not too big or small- don't use cheap chalk. Cheap chalk won't even write on the old genuine slate boards. I bought the large colored sticks; there is also a good quality small sticks around too. The small ones like we used in Grammer school have a heavy dense feel are better than the very light weight feeling chalk sticks; which seems hard to write with on boards. The light ones are good for sidewalks, not chalk boards in my opinioin. There was No problems writng on it even without preparing it out right out of the packing. In school we used to prepare new chalkboards. If you want to prepare the chalkboard, take a piece of chalk, hold it sideways and gently go over the whole board as if you were washing a window; color of chalk does not matter. I did it vertically first and then horizontally. Then erase all the chalk off the board, don't use any water. I have one of these boards from over 15 years ago and it is still in very good use. This is a good size and more conveiient than blackboard paint if you need a board quickly. Shipping was very fast. Blackboard paint you have to re-coat and let cure for 3 days. These paints are good too, as you can choose different colors. I did this 5 years ago for a section on my niecs's bedroom wall in blue chalk paint for reminder messages. It's still in good conditon. I prefer now to use thes portable boards and using a Rewards card you can get it for even cheaper!

READ REVIEWS BEFORE BUYING SO I GOT WHAT I EXPECTED.
I read reviews before I order therefor I got what I expected. I wanted a chalk board for my Grandkids to use at their house. I didn't want to spend a ton of money because they aren't overly careful yet on how they treat their belongings so this was just what I wanted. Something not expensive that I would not get to upset over them ruining. I sent up with them on their last visit & so far so good. I did tell their Dad to "PRIME" the chalkboard first if they were going to use chalk on it. I also got them some Liquid chalk markers to use with it & thats what they have been using on it. Dad says it wipes up easily. The only complaint he had was that it did not come with any hanging hardware or even a way to hang it.He attached some hanging things on the back & Little screws in the wall & says that it worked out fine that way. They use it to leave family notes etc on it.

cool, suits my needs
I suddenly felt nostalgic about my childhood when they still used chalkboards...now it's all whiteboards. I got this cuz of the price and I really didn't even have to prime the board, but did so anyway. I'm using regular white crayola chalk, tho i don't like it because it's too crumbly. I'll post pics up. If you want an idea of the texture of the surface of the board...you know those regular black tape dispensers, u see in school or office? almost like that. I also noticed hands aren't good at erasing, leaves the writing behind, just faded...but i use a regular cloth, like i don't have cloth lying around n used pijamas, or clean cotton underwear, and poof, chalk came off nicely. i used nails n hammer to put the mounting hardware on, because what's provided are lil screws and i don't have a machine to screw em in.
