A good choice for people who need accurate Sp02 readings.
The Masimo Mighty Sat pulse oximeter came with the batteries, a lanyard to wear around the neck and a soft pouch. I purchased it because I read that it was an accurate pulse oximeter during movement and low blood flow due to their Signal Extraction Technology. I still need to try it when taking a walk outside, but I tested it while using an exercise bike and the SpO2, Pulse and Pi worked, but the RRp and PVi did not pick up data until I stopped the exercise. I am primarily interested in the SpO2, and that has been fine so far.

This works great for o2 levels and heart rate. one of the better ones I have bought. I was having issues with my o2 dropping and it work well to identify my issue.

Didn't need
I didn't get a chance to use it because my doctor told me it wasn't necessary for my condition. I'm going by the opinion of another doctor that said it's "the best" one out there.

More useful than expected
I bought this for my elderly mom while she's recovering from knee replacement surgery. She LOVES IT and said that it makes her feel more secure to carry this around in her belt pack. This gives her an idea of the "patterns" of 3 of the important vital signs (pulse, oxygen, respiration rate) while she's resting and during exercise. Then she knows if something is out-of-whack even if she otherwise feels fine. The readings show up a few seconds after clamping it onto the finger and are very consistent. The display shows a cute little bar that jumps with each pulse. The iPhone app is quick & easy to connect with Bluetooth and has a beautiful moving graph that tracks history like a fancy medical monitor. I was able to show her how to use this without even reading any of the manual. A quick tap on the menu button flips the screen 90 degrees (one of four orientations). There is only one product improvement I would suggest if the manufacturer is reading this.. I'd like to be able to use Energizer Ultimate Lithium AAA batteries rather than regular alkaline because they last much longer (according to the manual it has to be regular alkaline).I only trust Masimo pulse oximeters for accuracy; the other copycats are inaccurate junk. At first I wasn't sure if I should spend so much on a small gadget, but looking back at the decision, I am very happy I made the purchase. This is one of my favorite products of the year. Everyone in our family wants to "borrow" it from my mom because we are all curious of our fitness parameters.

Not accurate as claimed, or even at all.
I have central hypo-ventillation syndrome (ondine's curse) and bought this because I wanted something extremely accurate and medical grade. I already have a Contech CMS 50F and it is very good, but I didn't feel comfortable wearing it at work. I was also concerned the Contech had some movement artifact and that's why I needed something more accurate as my condition is extremely rare and the medical community wasn't taking me seriously. I wore my contech during my in-lab sleep study in Feb. While awake facebooking, the contech had me desatting to 87% and the lab had 85%. While asleep, the contech had me desatting to 75% and the lab recorded 74%. So the Contech is accurate to 1% - 2%. So I was able to have the sleep lab had to amend their report to confirm central apneas and desatting while awake. While at work on 26 April, wearing both the Massimo and the Contech, and working on the computer, I was desatting and fainting. The Contech recorded 85% and the Masimo was only reaching down to 92%-93%. I know you have to go below 88% to faint, so that's how I know the Masimo is inaccurate and the contech is providing numbers within range. I found the Masimo runs about 3% too high with little ups and downs. When I experience central apneas whether asleep or awake, my O2 sat goes up and down like a yo-yo and varies by 10%-12% in about 1 min cycles, also confirmed by the lab. The masimo levels would only vary by 2%-3%, yet it would show my breathing rate vary from 5 to 25 breaths per minute. As you can see in the attached photos, my breathing rate in the white graph varies widely, yet the graph of my O2 saturation hardly varies. Also, the data will not export after multiple tries. So the reporting capability doesn't work as advertised either.

It was more convincing to me that the actual sleep study.
I used this with my iPad app (free) to show a full night of data when there was a question whether I had Sleep Apnea. It showed both the averages and the peaks and valleys. The app has a graphic representation in a variable time scale. For me it showed my oxygen level dropped into the 75% level multiple times a night. This is not good. After a full sleep study I did get a CPAP machine and measured again. It did keep oxygen above 90% all night. When my wife wondered about her sleep pattern, she was able to see that her oxygen was sufficient all night long. The specifically say it is not for diagnosing Sleep Apnea. I can only say this device with the app certainly showed the impact on Oxygen levels and heart rate that was very helpful. It was more convincing to me that the actual sleep study because the sleep study environment did not simulate my personal experience. Using this device in my own bed, not hooked to wires, and not being woken up multiple times (as I experienced in the sleep study) was a better representation of my reality. I would recommend to a friend or buy again given the same situation.HINT: the brightness of the display is variable. When moving the brightness setting from high to low, the battery life extended significantly.
