After installling, and letting water run at least 5-10 minutes, water is cloudy & has small white particles floating in it?

The Multipure filter instructions say to run water through for 30 minutes. Unfortunately the Hydronix filter does not say anything about how long to run water through before drinking, but I did not see any difference in how quickly the Multipure filter cleared out vs. the Hydronix. Also, I agree with the comment that the initial cloudiness is not entrapped air. This seems to be a common explanation from manufacturers, but if you collect the initial discharge in a container from either the Mulitpure or Hydronix filter, the water is clearly contaminated with something that does not go away - like a mild detergent. My guess is that there is something left in the manufacturing process like a plastic mold release compound that is not completely eliminated when the filter is packaged for consumption. It would be nice if manufacturers were more honest about this issue of the initial cloudiness. In any event, running the filter for 30 minutes does seem to rid the water of any objectionable odors.

Will this fit a Multipure 400 system?

No, this is for an aquaversa and replaces the CB6 filter. It appears that the 400 system uses a CB5. ALSO...I DO NOT RECOMMEND this filter. The water that came out of this filter had an oily white residue. It coated the glass and had an odd taste and smell. Even after 3 days, it didn't clear up. We returned it for a full refund, then ordered a real multipure filter. Save yourself the grief and get the real thing!

Is this made with charcoal like my old filter or just coconut shell? And which is better?

I haven't purchased a filter from here but, I have been researching the product. Yes, according to the description, it is made with a carbon block filter and coconut is the white you see on the exterior of the filter. I just don't know how well this one performs versus your old one. I am still trying to find what NSF standards are certified on this and if it is a solid carbon block. Another difference I am noticing is that this one states it filters down to 0.5 sub microns and your old one filters 0.4 sub microns.
