Brother High-Speed Desktop Document Scanner, ADS-2200, Multiple Scan Destinations, Duplex Scanning

I am so happy with this scanner. I had it in my cart but deleted it after reading some of the 1 star reviews about the difficulty of the software interface. I'm on Windows 8 so I was sure that didn't bode well for me. I just couldn't find any other scanner that offered a higher resolution for this low of a price so I decided to try it, certain I would probably be returning in within a week. But.... the set up was extremely easy. I had no issues or glitches. My first scan went flawlessly with no trouble finding where it was sent. It did take a few extra steps to figure out how to set up default settings through Remote Setup and download an additional driver, but it only took a few minutes. My scans are clear and legible, my old 5-in-1 printer had such low resolution that you couldn't read 90% of the scans. After searching in vain for a 5-in-1 with better resolution I just decided to add this as an auxiliary scanner instead and it works perfectly. The info on another website said this one offered 1200x1200 but I can only get it up to 600x600, but that good enough - I'm satisfied.

Product initially ran well however within a month a dark black line appeared and was visible on all scanned papers. Seller was contacted and made no effort to work with us. This is an expensive scanner and no options were given for service or replacement. All that was said was return date had expired. I will never order again from Amazon or seller. Terrible service.

I've used many sheet fed scanners since about 1990. Xerox, HP, NEC and others that don't even exist anymore. This one is by far the best I've ever used. It will scan both sides of a page AT THE SAME TIME. One pass, and you've got both sides of a 8.5 x almost any length you could have. A two sided legal page zips through in about five seconds, and bingo, you have both sides scanned. A stack of two sided legal pages is done so fast, you might have forgotten what a project you were working on.Typical Brother product--easy to set up and configure the software. For years, I've recommended Brother desktop printers to my IT clients, and products like this are the reason why. For small spaces, the output tray folds up allowing a very small footprint when not in use. But the real miracle is how fast this scans two sides of any page.

I am giving this scanner a careful 4 stars, as it feels very flimsy with its plastic casing and parts. For this reason it is overpriced in my opinion. Time will tell if it is more toy than tool. However it does perform as advertised so far. You can save your scans in multiple formats, with options for page set-up as well. It can also scan the front and back of a sheet simultaneously.I purposely bought the model that needs the cord to be connected to the computer because it seems like the other model had a few more problems. It’s quite small and light it’s no problem placing it somewhere nearby either my laptop or desktop. It scans in color as well as black-and-white with text and has a wide dpi range. I find it useful to have the app up on my computer while using the scanner so that I have a good amount of control over each project. At 100 dpi pages fly through. So far I have not scanned any photos and will update my review once I do that.

ratings for Warmth and Thickness... what is this, a sweater? This document scanner is terrific. I'm converting all my printed photos to digital and then all my parents photos. Lots of work. At 300 DPI the thing zips photo (even duplex), it is amazing. At higher settings (up to 1200), it's slower but effective and I could change the DPI setting as desired for more important photos.Easy to use, connected via USB to my PC, application is simple and effective. I'm thrilled at the price. Doing 500+ photos in 3 hours as an example (depending on how much work you have setting them up and how you want to name the results.I have 3 Canon printers and really wanted to by in that family, but the reviews for the Brother machine won me over and I knew I did not want to invest in the higher end Fujitsu's.

I did a lot of research about high speed scanners before buying and nothing was really conclusive. I ended up buying this one because it seemed a good mix of performance and cost. I cannot be happier with it. It is kind of a pain to setup and the brother software isn't the best. I personally use it directly from my Mac system preferences scanner prompt.That being said, this thing is an absolute life saver for me. I never knew what I was missing until I had this. I digitize all of my documents in a snap now. Plus it has helped me execute a project where I am digitizing tens of thousands of hand written invoices. It's a total lifesaver!Can't recommend this thing enough.

The scanner is small enough to take with you on a trip and scans papers very fast. It is very easy to use and to save your work on your computer. I can now scan 70 documents for one folder in about two minutes whereas before I had to scan one document at a time which took about 45-60 minutes or more. I absolutely love this feature because being in business everyone knows the time is money.
